Fees and costs
This page explains how Eden Law Group is paid and who pays the costs of a case. You can read it before you decide to hire the firm.
In short
- Eden Law Group is paid through a contingency fee. No fee unless we recover money for you.
- Case costs, including a set charge for general case expenses, are your responsibility, and we may advance them.
- If there is a recovery, the attorney fee is figured first. Then case costs are paid from your share.
- If there is no recovery, you still owe the costs we advanced.
- If your case goes to trial, you may need to deposit trial costs before trial.
What case costs are
Case costs are the expenses of working on a claim. They are separate from the attorney fee. Examples include court filing fees, fees for medical records and reports, deposition and court reporter costs, and fees charged by witnesses who give professional opinions.
If there is a recovery
- 1 The attorney fee is figured first.
- 2 Case costs are then paid from your share.
So costs come out after the fee is figured, not before.
If there is no recovery
As the summary at the top of this page says, there is no attorney fee when there is no recovery. You still owe the case costs the firm advanced.
If your case goes to trial
Before a trial, you may need to deposit trial costs.
General case expenses
The written fee agreement includes a set charge for general case expenses. The amount is written in the agreement, and it is counted as a case cost.
A written agreement comes first
The firm represents you only after you and the firm sign a written fee agreement. The fee percentage is written in that agreement, so you see it before you sign.
At the end of the case
When the case ends, the firm gives you a written closing statement.
Why there is no percentage on this page
The fee percentage is set in your written fee agreement. The firm does not list it on this website. For how costs are handled, see the summary at the top of this page.
